Project Lovebird was established so that birds who have undergone debilitating injuries can be helped. Through a group of volunteers who work in the Matthew E. Rives Prosthetics Lab we are able to assist our avian friends through their rehabilitation journey all at no cost to the recipients or their caretakers.
Who: We help all birds, but place a strong focus on birds of endangered species.
Where: Our avian recipients are located all over the United States and are often under the care of special rehabilitation centers or wildlife sanctuaries.
What: We can create a wide array of prosthetics including wings, legs, feet, feathers, and beaks.
Why: Birds help control over a trillion pounds of pest a year, pollinate plants and flowers, and help spread seed which aids in building forests. They are incredibly important parts of the ecosystem and without them humans would be at a great risk.
How: Our network of volunteers work tirelessly to review applications and design, create, and refine prosthetics for birds in need through generous donations from the public.
